This beat was the first one I produced for someone else. Years before working with True, I was a struggling producer/rapper (even more so than now LOL) who recorded out of my college dorm/apartment and mixed it as such. I got a request from this brother Jon Jon (who you hear rapping on iWitness's original version and on the chorus of the track "Snap on 'Em" from 'J Dot Era Vol. 1.' He wanted a soulful beat for his squad, YA, to rap over. So, I crafted this based on a few samples, replayed them and altered them, and he and his team rapped on it.

A while later, I decided to dust it off and rap over it myself. Astute ears will realize that this beat is also the basis of "The Mental Breakdown Interlude" from 'Death of the King,' which speaks to the longevity of my best beats (sorry for the self-congratulatory tone in that statement).
