about

In March 2020, I released a 'These Beats of Mine' tape based on 'Persona 5.' Due to it releasing around the time of my mother's death anniversary, I didn't put as much of my heart and soul into it. That's ironic since the 'These Beats of Mine' series started as a coping mechanism to deal with my mother's somewhat sudden death. Fast forward to 2021 and I'm officially ready to revamp this TBOM tape.

Think of this as the 'Persona 5 Royal' of TBOM 3.

Please be sure to check out Shoji Meguro's original 'Persona 5' compositions as they are the basis and inspiration to these songs. Lyn is an amazing vocalist, so be sure to check her work out as well. Be sure to support video game composers, as they make your favorite games pop. Also, support voice actors and be sure to check out the 'Persona' series (I started with 5 and am working my way backwards) and love JRPGs as much as their creators love putting them out.

Once again, support the official release if you like my re-imaginings and flips. The OST, along with many other 'Persona' OSTs, is available on Apple Music, Spotify and for purchase on iTunes (trust me -- it's worth it). I cannot stress this enough: this was a labor of love, not just "oh, lemme play pin the tail on the 'Persona' song and add some quick drums to it for a quick buck since 'Persona' is now bigger in the US." I tried to capture what each song chopped meant to me, between abrasive boombap energies, Baltimore club-inspired instrumentation, trap rap, and jazz rap. If you like this beat tape, PLEASE SUPPORT THE OFFICIAL RELEASE--with, you know, (actual) streams and purchases.

Here's to more Phantom Thievery--and hopes that ATLUS and/or SEGA hears this and is like "hey damn, this SOTB guy loves 'P5' and 'Persona' as a whole." That's infinitely better than the alternative: them saying "oh crap, this SOTB guy is a not-so phantom thief. Let's sue him to unholy hell to the point his great-great-grandchildren are paying us."

No one wants that.

-Your Somewhat Friendly Neighborhood SOTB
